Serger Sewing Machine

I had been wanting to get a serger for a while, but they're so expensive! I thought I lucked out when I found this fabulous serger at an estate sale a few years ago. Unfortunately, the heirs didn't know much about Mom's professional tailoring business and I was to excited to notice that the pedal and cord were missing before I left. Oops. This little fella still fetches $100+ elsewhere (with the pedal...), but I'll let him go for just $40. A replacement pedal can be gotten for about $25 online!
What IS a serger?
Sergers are finishing machines that cut and finish the raw edges of the material you are sewing. Unlike a straight stitch sewing machine, serger machines (also called overlock machines) use loopers in order to make the stitch, and a set of knives (one on top that moves against the bottom blade) similar to a pair of scissors in action. Serger machines give your creations a finished look in far less time than it would take with a regular sewing machine.

Well, that about does it for us! Robbins Bros gave us a rewards card for each purchase--to be used towards the next purchase. Um, we don't need any more! It has a $50 credit that is good towards "the purchase of any After I Do item valued at $295 or greater". It expires 12 months after purchase, so it should be good 'til about May 2009. I'll head by RB to confirm details before we try to officially sell it to someone, but please let us know if you're interested!
Throwing Knives
Yes, you read that right. And we've got a set of six! They're brand new! Unused! Never out of the package! (except for this photo, of course) Size 9 stainless steel, made in Pakistan, with black nylon sheaths. SOLD
This would have to go under the what-the-heck-were-we-thinking? category. Chalk it up to too much fun and not enough clarity of mind at last year's Renaissance Festival (at the time, I don't think we realized what we were actually buying...).
Yeees, they can be used by entertainers, but I think knife throwing can also be a serious sport and may be used in some forms of martial arts. If that's not you--are you or someone you know an aspiring circus performer? Perhaps you've always fancied yourself as a daring man (or woman!) in black? Or, the decorating possibilities are endless!

Out in California, folks call this award-winning wine "two buck Chuck" (referring, of course, to Charles Shaw). It's even not available in Texas, but we had some dedicated out-of-town wedding guests help us to transport several cases to Houston to serve at our reception. We've got some left over! Although it can be $2/bottle (+tax) in sunny California, it costs a bit more in Oregon & Georgia-- and that's before we went through the trouble and expense to schlep it out here! Nevertheless, we're willing to sell each case for only $30 each to make more room in our kitchen. (21 and older, please....)

SOLD - There are 75 issues of Maxim from February 2001 to May 2007 (#38-113). There's also several issues of FHM and a bunch of Men's Health. Each issue is in great condition; no tears, perfect if you're a collector-- OR add a stack next to the porcelain throne and toss 'em in the recycle bin when you finish. There's lots of great articles (yes, really) in addition to all the great photos; save the issues with spreads of your fav celebs and then wallpaper your gym locker, dorm room, garage, or ceiling with other choice images. Make collages or creative envelopes for personalized stationery! Perfect for papier mache! Use a stack to prop up the broken leg of your sofa! OR just impress your friends with this impeccable and complete collection.

I don't know too much about this item since it was left behind by a former roomie who moved back to Germany, so it might need a little work. Includes the original owner's manual.
